Links are specified in HTML using the <a> (anchor) elements. To see the HTML used to create a page, most browsers offer a "view page source" option. The HTML code consists of tags; the hyperlink tag starts with "<a", and includes a reference "href="URL">", marking the start of the link. The text between the hyperlink tag and its corresponding "closing" tag ( "</a>") is called the anchor text.

12/24 - 25th Political Theology (Girard take)

Jung, Bly, and Campbell for me all lead to the <i>bigger</i> anthropological frame of René Girard. Quote below is not from this IEP url I'm sharing--->  http://www.iep.utm.edu/girard/

"While the scapegoat mechanism has been brought into the light, it has not ceased to operate within our societies. The social contagion of the scapegoat mechanism need not terminate in murder or actual violence. The same dynamics can be seen in the ostracization of certain parties within a family or workplace. It is at work in our attitude to outsiders, supporters of opposing political parties, persons of other races, religions, or sexualities, to immigrants, to the extremely rich or to the poor, to liberals or to conservatives. The victims of the scapegoat mechanism need not be innocent: it can be directed against ‘hate figures’ such as paedophiles, who truly are worthy of condemnation. Nevertheless, the guilt of the victim never justifies the frenzy and the violence of the mob."
from "Political Theology Today" in "The Politics of the Mob—John 19:1-16a"

HENRY GIROUX: Oh, I mean, it is truly ruthless. I mean, imagine yourself on a reality TV program called “The Survivor”, you and I, we're all that's left. The ideology that drives that program is only one of us is going to win. I don't have any respect for you. I mean, all I'm trying to do is beat you. I just want to be the one that's left. I want to win the big prize.

Vijay Prashad's talk (Real News) is just as clear, if not clearer, than my truthout read/share you may have just seen. Seems our "allies" won't iron out on going quarrels with IS's most formidable opponents. The moderate opposition in Syria (opposing Assad) is stressed with fighting Assad plus Jabhat al-Nusra in addition to IS. Iraq's Sunnis opposed to IS [an important component of opposition to the IS] are STILL dealing with sectarian persecution from the Iraqi army and Shia militias. As for the Kurds (the heaviest enemy IS contends with), they got bombed by Turkey a week ago for the first time in two years. Jabhat al-Nusra is not gonna leave the moderate Syrian opposition alone if Riyadh (SA) doesn't tell'em to. And apparently Iran is not gonna fight alongside Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists as one day such Saudi-funded groups might directly attack THEM, a big enough concern.

"The Lies We Believed" Moyers fb share & fb comment
The dissenting folks (reporters & pols at that time) need to be enumerated too.

Seems, if you're looking up media-suckerdom (of course not that word) re the 2003 war, Google strangely these days turns up scant from the best liberal sites. It did manage to find me this.

Buying the War

Funny, but when I tried to comment under this above linked page (Disqus), the moderation time never ended and the post in reality never went up. Had the same problem with the Moyers "here's-what-u-need-2-know" discussion the other day too. I'm going to try again with the latter, making the comment as on-point as possible, and reduce it to one simple F.A.I.R. link [under one poster's comment on network coverage], and see if that works. Nader and Kevin Drum (MoJo) make a real salient point about nichification and a LACK OF CROSS-ISSUE COMING TOGETHER [emphasis not shouting]. Could be piggybackers interferring, though, and not narrowness on the part Moyers-dot-com discussion hosts/prefects.

brace yourself america: the polar vortex is coming back

This first link (recent) coroborates what UCS is claiming. Nevertheless, I see last yr's warping of the polar vortex circuit as influenced significantly by a warm jet out of the Pacific (third link gives a good illustration, Dec '13). The al Jazzera story seems to be saying what just happened is the vortex, but I haven't come across "polar vortex" in its text yet.

“ 'When those waves get really big, they tend to get stuck and stay in place for a long time — we’re seeing it now,' Francis said. The phenomenon has also been blamed for the series of extreme snowstorms that pummeled the east coast of the U.S. last winter." 11/20/14
